Q: How long does it typically take to install a new lawn? A: The time it takes to install a new lawn can vary depending on the size of the area and the specific conditions of the site and the time of year the seed is planted. Generally, it takes anywhere from ½ day to 2 days to complete the entire process. Under ideal growing conditions and with the right amount of moisture, the first signs of growth can be seen within a week, with full establishment typically taking a 1.5-2.5 months. This can vary quite a bit depending on the time of year along with the specific type of seed variety.

Q: What are the benefits of using a Brillion seeder vs sod or Hydroseeding? A: Using a Brillion seeder for lawn installations provides superior seed-to-soil contact, which enhances germination rates and leads to a more uniform and healthy lawn growth. It’s especially beneficial for fast soil stabilization and is FAR more cost-effective and environmentally friendly compared to sod or hydroseeding.

Q: How often should my driveway be maintained? A: The frequency of driveway maintenance depends on the type of material used and the level of usage. For gravel driveways, we recommend at least annual check-ups and a touch-up as it’s not very costly and will prolong the service lifespan by ensuring potholes and washouts are eliminated. This service is typically about the same cost as a load or two of gravel.

Q: What does your driveway maintenance procedure involve?

A: Our driveway maintenance procedure is designed to ensure the longevity and aesthetics of your driveway, while adding minimal cost and using the aggregate already there as much as possible. It starts with a thorough inspection to identify any issues, such as washboards, potholes, and drainage problems. We then proceed with a rough grading process using a custom grader on a Bobcat with a serrated cutting edge designed to cut into the middle layers to “turn over” the larger gravel onto the surface. For many driveways, this also includes adding a crown to the surface to restore the proper shape and ensure efficient water drainage to greatly prolong the life of the driveway. Potholes are cut out completely, and the most of the aggregate is worked up to completely rejuvenate the road surface. A final step we recommend often is a vibratory roller to smooth out and compact the aggregate to “lock in” the newly rejuvenated driveway. This not only looks good, but this process also extends the life significantly with very minimal costs.

Q: What is the typical gravel driveway installation process?

A: Our driveway installation process is meticulous and tailored to meet the specific needs of each property. Initially, we conduct a site assessment to understand the terrain, soil type, and drainage requirements. Based on this assessment, we design the driveway, considering factors like width, slope, and material preference. Excavation and grading are the next steps, where we prepare the land, ensuring a stable foundation and proper drainage. For gravel driveways, we lay down a base layer of crushed stone for stability, followed by the gravel surface, which is compacted and smoothed. For paved driveways, we install a base layer of compacted stone and then lay the asphalt or concrete, finishing with a smooth and durable surface. Throughout the process, we focus on quality craftsmanship and materials to ensure a durable and attractive driveway.
